| About Nick Bauer |
| Founder and President,
Bauer & Associates |
 |
In
his three decades as a consultant and business executive, Nick Bauer
has provided clear solutions to complex environmental problems for
a broad range of clients and corporate stakeholders. After receiving
an advanced degree in environmental engineering from Cal Tech, Nick
embarked on a career in environmental affairs, developing a portfolio
of technical expertise and supervisory experience that has served
him well in his management of projects ranging from the clean-up
of hazardous waste sites to the performance of environmental due
diligence assessments. He has created and conducted training courses
for both technical and non-technical corporate managers, provided
deposition testimony, worked with private companies on the implementation
of regulatory requirements, drafted permit applications, and conducted
more than two-hundred environmental, health, and safety compliance
audits for industries as diverse as food processing and petroleum
refining. He has also played a management role in the remediation
of complex Superfund sites, including the Arrowhead Plating Site
in Virginia, the Fultz Landfill in Ohio, the Caldwell Trucking Site
in New Jersey, and the Scovill Industrial Landfill in Connecticut.
Drawing on his experience at these sites, Nick has written or co-authored
several papers on the use of innovative technologies in multi-dimensional
remediation projects.
Nick’s combination of rigorous technical education and broad
practical experience enables him to identify and address environmental
challenges with an eye toward reconciling the often-conflicting goals
of the stakeholders in a project. As a former project manager for a
large environmental consulting company, he understands the needs of
both regulators and the regulated community; as a former corporate
executive, he recognizes the importance of accounting for budgetary
realities in the development of project plans. He has worked with federal
regulators, representatives of state and local environmental agencies,
property owners, state and local governments, construction contractors,
business managers, attorneys, scientists, and engineers—often
on the same project. Now, as the founder and president of Bauer &
Associates, he continues to share his technical expertise and management
savvy with colleagues and clients alike. |
